Rico Freeman is an artist from Kansas City, MO. He is most widely known for his story-telling conscious rap style, displayed in videos seen by millions across social media. He has also been featured on mainstream urban websites like ‘WorldStarHipHop.com’ and viral pages like ‘IDiscoverStars’. His third video braiding his daughter’s hair went viral with 100,000+ shares.

Rico’s rise into the public eye came after he posted a video to Dej Loaf’s “Try Me” instrumental. He received thousands of shares and even a comment from his favorite rapper. The lyrics included a story-line involving a controversial conversation with God that sent millions of viewers spiraling into an emotional roller coaster, prompting several to like, comment, and share.

Shortly after, he released “Not a Coincidence,” Dedicated to Sandra Bland. He poetically flowed his points and views on the death of an activist he perceived as in-coincidental. Acting as a “rap”tivist himself, performing the lyrics in different venues across the nation.

As his audience grew, he continued to release videos like “Strong,”  highlighting the struggles of being a single mother & “Gangsta” preaching a positive message to young men who perpetuate the negative image surrounding young black men.
